This class is a certification course sanctioned by the National Crisis Prevention Institute. Participants will learn basic crisis intervention techniques, how to recognize warning sighs and the use of verbal and non-verbal techniques to avoid a confrontation. Safe intervention procedures, including when to restrain and transport the acting out client as well as a team approach to intervention will be taught. Remedies on how to safely break of fights will also be presented. This is a 2-day class and participants will receive certification upon completion of both days. No-one will be admitted for a single day. |

Mr. Richard Watkin is a Certified Instructor of CPI's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training course for Mental Health Association and is a member of the International Association of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Certified Instructors. By completing an Instructor Certification Program in 1991, Richard Watkin became authorized to provide training to in-house staff in the full Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® course. The course is six to 12 hours in length and is based on the philosophy of Care, Welfare, Safety, and SecuritySM. Since becoming certified, Richard Watkin has taught a total of 1479 hours. Richard Watkin 's Instructor Certification in the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training program is a valuable asset to Mental Health Association. |
