Judge James L. Jackson' NJ Superior Court, Atlantic CountyThe
Honorable James L. Jackson currently sits on the bench of the New Jersey
Superior Court, Vicinage I, which covers Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
Appointed to the bench in 1978 he is assigned to the Family Part handling
all formal juvenile matters, non-dissolution; domestic violence and emergent
matters.
An Atlantic County native, Judge Jackson is married with two children. He graduated from Rutgers Law School, Newark, in 1974, passing the New Jersey Bar in 1975. Judge Jackson has spent his much of his career in public service, having also served as a member of the Atlantic County and Essex County Public Defender’s Office, and an Associate of the Honorable Dennis J. Braithwaite, as well as serving as legislative counsel to the City Council of Atlantic City and the Pleasantville and Chesilhurst Boards of Education.
F. Lee Forrester, P.J.F.P. Judge Forrester was appointed to the Superior Court in November of 1992. After one year of service in the Criminal Division, his next assignment was to the Family Part where he continues to serve. In 1997, he became the Presiding Judge of the Family Part in Mercer County. Judge Forrester received his B.A. in Child Psychology from Villanova University in 1972 and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Newark in 1976. Upon graduation from Law School, he clerked for the Honorable A. Jerome Moore, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division in the Mercer Vicinage. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Forrester held several positions with the N.J. Department of the Public Defender/Public Advocate, including Supervising Senior Trial Attorney of the Juvenile Unit. Earlier in his career, he was a staff attorney to the Mercer County Law Guardian Program where he represented the education, social and legal rights and interests of abused/neglected children in Mercer County. In his prejudicial career as a child advocate, the judge served on the Governor’s Commission of Children’s Services Planning, was President of the New Jersey Child Care Association, an active member of the New Jersey Child Care Advisory Council and the Mercer County Commission on Child Abuse and Missing Children. Since his appointment, Judge Forrester has continued to actively participate in organizations and causes that impact the lives of children. He is the President of the N.J. Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and serves on the conference of Family Division Presiding Judges and the Supreme Court Family Practice Committee. In these latter two assignments, he chairs the sub-groups that deal with juvenile justice. He is the Chair of the Mercer Vicinage Domestic Violence Working Groups and Co-Chair of the Mercer County Youth Services Commission. Additionally, Judge Forrester has served on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice, as well as the Advisory Council to Study the Future of the Jamesburg Training School. |
