The state of New Jersey, partnering with the Annie E. Casey Foundation has replicated the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative. The nationally recognized process uses a collaborative, data driven system to empower counties, in partnership with the state, to begin a diagnostic process that helps identify what works and what doesn’t work. This effort was not designed as jail-break, rather it is a way to ensure that the most serious & chronic juvenile offenders are detained, and to create a system that can better serve the needs of at risk youth who may not be in need of secure care. In this workshop, you will learn the strategies that have produced the current successes from key leaders at both the state and local level. |
