Hostage Survival

Course Outline:

Hostage safety and survival in a crisis situation is the primary objective of the Hostage Negotiation Team. During an incident, TIME is the key component to a safe and successful outcome. Participants in this workshop will learn techniques to help ensure personal safety if taken hostage, understand the importance of time and learn time-delaying tactics. Participants will gain an understanding of the role of the hostage negotiator in affecting a safe and successful outcome through crisis intervention strategies.

Presenter

Bob LaForgia is the Supervisor of Education at East Jersey State Prison in Rahway, New Jersey and has been with the NJDOC for twenty-eight years. 

Diane Patrick
is an Assistant Supervisor of Education at Garden State Correctional Facility in Yardville, New Jersey and has been with NJDOC for nine years.  They are trained and certified by the FBI to serve on the NJDOC Critical Incident Negotiation Team (CINT), respond to a crisis situation and participate in the negotiation process in the event of an incident.  Bob and Diane have been active members of the Critical Incident Negotiation Team for five years.
