The Morris County Juvenile Detention Facility is physically located at 460 West Hanover Avenue in Morris Township, New Jersey. The Detention facility was originally opened July 9, 1962. It operates under the authority of the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders within the Human Services Department. The facility currently provides short term detention care for a maximum of 42 residents. In addition to a State approved educational program, the Center provides recreational, religious and social opportunities for both male and female residents.

The Detention Center operates under the direction of Juvenile Facilities Director Edward C. Facas. The day to day operational responsibilities are handled by Deputy Director Thomas P. Pollio. Staff members include 3 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 23 full time Juvenile Detention Officers, 2 full time social workers, 3 nurses, 6 certified teachers and 2 support staff personnel.

Statistically, the Juvenile Detention Center handles in excess of 275 admissions annually. The average length of stay is approximately 25 days. Approximately 85% of admissions are male adolescents with the remaining 15% being female.
